CEO and Co-Founder of CivicBrand
Author of The Civic Brand: The Power & Responsibility of Place
About This Session
As communities across Western Colorado navigate growth, talent attraction, and long-term economic resilience, the role of place has never been more important. At the Western Colorado Economic Summit, Lunch Keynote speaker Ryan Short will explore how a community's identity shapes not only perception but also investment, policy, and opportunity.
In The Power & Responsibility of Place, this session will highlight how communities can bring together voices across sectors to strengthen alignment, attract investment, and build lasting civic pride, while remaining authentic and grounded in the assets that define them.
The identity of a community reflects the collective influence of tourism boards, economic developers, institutions, nonprofits, artists, businesses, and residents. When these voices align, the brand’s impact multiplies, attracting investment, talent, visitors, and civic pride. This session explores who truly shapes a place brand and how communities can harness that shared influence to keep it authentic, inclusive, and resilient.
